Ray Pinder
NTTA - Chairman
Barnsley Towbar Centre
Family
I have lived around Barnsley south Yorkshire all my life. I am married to Michele and have two children and have a springer spaniel called Lady.
Hobbies
I enjoy travelling and like visiting new places, I am also passionate about junior football having been involved in junior football for above ten years and hold a FA Level 2 coaching certificate and am vice chairman of Barnsley Schools FA. I am also a football scout for Barnsley FC so weekends are usually busy.
Work History
Left school in 1984 and completed an apprenticeship in engineering at Hepworth clay products, I went on from there to work in the maintenance section at Stocksbridge engineering steels. In 1999 when our second child came along I decided I needed a new challenge and fell into the towing industry, and started Barnsley Towbar Centre from scratch at its current premises, within a few years the business had grown enough for Michele to leave her admin role at a local builders merchant to concentrate on our family business.
Company
Barnsley Towbar Centre has grown from a one-man band (myself) to what it is today over the last 19 years, as well as Michele and myself, we also have two full time staff along with an apprentice (and lady the spaniel) and we may expand to a third full time member of staff for 2019. As well as installing Towbars, we also offer sales service and repair for trailers and have a well-stocked trailer accessories retail shop.
NTTA
We joined the NTTA a long time ago and were one of the first to become QS accredited. We have enjoyed working with the association over the years to promote safe and legal towing , and I am looking forward to my new role on the council where hopefully I can use the nearly 20 years industry experience to move things forward in a positive way.
